The Loyalist Trap

Updated: Mar 26, 2021

I am one of those people that try to stick to a service for a long time as long as it's consistent and doesn't give me anguish when using it. I am this way with things like phone service providers but never the less, I always make sure to shop around just to make sure I am getting the best deal and not leaving potential savings on the table. Reevaluating the relationship for your benefit is good because you get to price shop and even use the loyalty to negotiate for a better premium. Be sure to speak to an actual human being because you cannot achieve this goal if all the price shopping is between you and an online bot.

The Takeaway:

  1. Home and Car Insurance premiums are good things to reevaluate price-wise every couple of years. These insurance providers like to stay competitive. It's good to do this if you are considering bundling with one provider, if you've updated your home and want that value captured within the insurance coverage.

  2. In November or December when your employer is offering the annual benefits enrollment, take time to read through the plans and see where you get the most value for your buck. Life events that you are considering in the near future like family planning affect the type of coverage you should get.
