The Weight Trap

It wasn't until after my first child that I fully considered how much my body- metabolism had changed. I ate the same but my body didn't process food the same way. This lead to changing in the way I dressed because nothing I owned before felt comfortable in my new body. To be honest I kept convincing myself that I could still buy the same pre-mom-bod clothes and my body would eventually shrink into them again. It didn't work! The truth is that pregnancy forces your body to rearrange itself during and after birth. Accepting this new reality is hard because the mainstream media keeps pushing for a body standard THAT IS NOT FEASIBLE!

The Takeaway:

  1. Before you spend spend spend on a new wardrobe, listen to your body first. Breastfeeding, exercise and how much sleep you are getting will affect your metabolism and subsequently your weight.

  2. So you bought a gym membership, 2 waist trainers and 3 tummy control pants? Don't be victim to snapback culture!

  3. A healthy diet and sleep will do wonders for your body and your mood.

  4. Forget the gym membership - dance like no one is watching in the comfort of your own living room or go for a 30 minute walk.

  5. If you have Amazon Prime, take advantage of the free guided exercise content that comes with your subscription.
