If you are like many moms out there feeling like you are stuck doing a dead-end job and want to do more, or have the potential to do more but are lacking the skills to get you to the next level - guess what moms?
There are companies willing to teach you the skills they need and pay for you to learn them. Most of the upskilling programs are designed to complete in shorter time span than traditional college programs.
By the end of 2020 many employers had reported an increased skills gap compared to 2019 and a pandemic-forced restructuring of how people worked had allowed for the ability to hire talent from a decentralized workforce. The flip side of this for moms means that now we have a higher chance of getting those coveted roles which would have been previously difficult if you needed more time to get from work to the kids soccer games!
Things worth considering:
The Mom Project has free upskilling programs like Rise for POC
Google Cloud is offering training to upskill for cloud services
Amazon has committed a significant budget to upskilling it's workforce
IBM has plans to leverage existing programs and career building platforms to expand access to education and in-demand technical roles.
Work from home, get paid better and get time back you'd otherwise spend commuting.
